Today after breakfast, your visits are going to be Ozkonak underground city, Zelve/Pasabag and Derbent. Stop by the Pottery in Avanos. It is an art using clay, since Hittite times. Here The Pottery is a popular activity because of Kizilirmak river runs through the region, which brings tons of alluvia. Later we have lunch and after lunch, the rest of the day is at leisure.
Today, after your breakfast in Konya, you leave for Pamukkale, a Cotton Castle or you can say an ancient Hierapolis (Holy City). This area has been drawing the exhausted to its thermal springs since the time of Classical antiquity. You shall drive through a stimulating landscape where peasants make their living. On arrival, check into the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure.
After a leisurely breakfast, you visit the Hittite sights of Hattusas, Alacahoyuk and after that the two museums. Hittites are the primary people of Anatolia. They founded an Empire and influenced the history of this land (Turkey today). They had very close relations with Mesopotamian and Egyptian civilizations. Post lunch break, we head towards the black sea. The Black Sea / Euxine Sea is one of the major water bodies and a famous inland sea in the world. The anoxic nature of the Black Seawater, due to which the process of decomposition is slow in the lower water layers. It has resulted in several scary rumours, making the sea infamous.
Today, after leisurely breakfast, check out and drive towards the east along the Black Sea coast enjoying the awesome views with stops in scenic Giresun and Ordu.
Morning excursion to Sumela Monastery, an incredible Greek Orthodox monastery tucked high within the mountains. Either you will hop on foot or take a minibus shuttle. On returning to the town centre, you visit the second H. Sophia after Constantinople (Istanbul) and later continue with a walking tour of the pretty town. Drive to Boztepe for a breathtaking view of the Black Sea.
You are by the Coast of Black Sea. After an early breakfast, you shall drive to Hopa. En-route you visit Uzungol surrounded by vast greenery. Next halt shall be at Rize, and here you shall see a tea factory (if operational). A drive through the Black Sea Kackar mountains will register in your hearts the magnificent views and scenery.
Leave Hopa behind and after a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, drive towards Erzurum, a crucial city of Selcuk and Ottoman periods. On the way to Erzurum, you will visit the Osvank, Haho and Ishan Armenian/Georgian churches. This journey will be your another memorable drive with full of magnificent views and scenery.
After breakfast, you shall start your drive for Kars, after visiting Cifte Minarelli Medrese, Archaeological museum during a traditional medrese, Rustem Pasha Kervansaray, the marketplace for the local Oltu stone. On arrival, check into the and 0vernight stay in Kars.
After breakfast, start your day with a walking tour of Kars. Today you shall visit the Church/Mosque of 12 Apostles. Post lunch we visit the capital city of Ani of the Armenian Kingdom within the 10th and 11th centuries after that we drive to Dogubayazit viewing the Armenian Border. You will enjoy the view of legendary Mt. Ararat, Dogubayazit is also well known for its Turkish, Kurdish, Armenian and Persian carpets. Overnight at Dogubayazit.
After leisure breakfast at the hotel leave for Van. On the way we have our visits to Noah’s Ark and Ishak Pasha Palace overlooking the Silk Road is on our program. Overnight in Van.
Today after a leisurely breakfast, you visit Cavustepe on a low hill, which was a vital settlement of Urartians. This Ottoman times Hosap fortress is perched on a steep rock controlling the road for trade routes. Multi-coloured eyes of Van cats are going to be our joy of the day. Climb to the Van castle for fantastic sunset view.
After a leisurely breakfast, visit Akdamar Island with lunch by the Van lake. Akdamar is a magnificent masonry of Armenian architecture with stone reliefs about Old and New Testament images and more. Return to the town. And conclude your day with a leisurely walk around the city.
