Post arriving in Colombo, one of our team members will receive you and help you check in the hotel in Kandy. As we proceed to Kandy, we shall explore The Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage on our way. This is nothing but the place where around 60 elephants are taken care of by the Wildlife Authority. To watch the elephants bathing, you could move along with the herd of the elephants to the nearby river. Later, we shall halt for some time en route to Kandy. While we will be visiting The Spice Garden in Mawanella, you could check out how various spices are cultivated across the landscape. You can also check out on how the spices are processed till the time they are brought into the market. Our next halt will be at The Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya which is known to be built for the pleasure of a Sinhala King. As time passed by, the British thought about expanding the garden. While you explore the 147 acres expanse of land, you can catch a glimpse of numerous types of trees, flowers and plants. Later, we will lead you to the hotel where you can relax for some time. In the evening, you can step out to visit the Kandy local market, a gem lapidary and the arts & crafts centre. We shall call it a day as some of the localities perform the Kandyan dance. Such a type of dance, which is now the national dance, gained popularity during the reign of kings from the 16th to the 19th centuries. At night, we shall be taking rest in a hotel in Kandy.
After enjoying a flavoursome breakfast, we shall go to the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy. While this temple is the place where the “Dalada Maligawa” used to live, it’s worth visiting the temple due to its architectural style. Currently, the temple is fortified with a terrain in the vicinity. Kandy was known to be the capital of the kings ruling from the period between 1592 and 1815. Later, during the day, you will check out the hotel and be setting off to Nuwara Eliya. As we proceed to the place, we will stop by The Ramboda Waterfalls for some time. Next, we shall visit The Tea factory along with the tea plantation. It is at this place where you can check out tea is made after the leaves are plucked. You will also be able to view the ways in which the tea is graded. As you spend some time in the factory, you can share a cup of Ceylon tea with your travel mates. After that, our tour representative will lead you to the hotel in Nuwara Eliya. Once you have finished off your lunch, you can spend the rest of the day at leisure. At night, you will be resting in the hotel in N’Eliya.
After relishing your breakfast, you can think about exploring N’Eliya for the entire day. Owing to the outdoor climate and the scenery, N’Eliya is now known to be a hill resort in Sri Lanka. While you start exploring the hill station, you will be led to The Seetha Amman Temple, Hakagala Botanical Gardens (Ashok Vatika) and Divurumpola. While you walk leisurely across The Hakagala Botanical Gardens, you will be happy with the colorful view due to the tree ferns and the roses. You may even come across blue magpies and monkeys here and there. As per Ramayana, the epic written by Valmiki, this garden was once upon a time considered as The Ashok Vatika during the rule of the king Ravana. Divurumpola, on the other hand, literally means ‘a place of oath’. It is at this place where Sita had undergone a test to prove her maidenhood. Without any harm due to the fire, it certainly signifies the faithfulness with which she has been pacing ahead with Rama. While we proceed to see The Seetha Amman Temple, you will come across a stream that is flowing downhill. It is stated that Sita did have a bath in this rivulet. Beside the brook, you will also be able to see a temple devoted to Lord Rama, Lakshmana, Sita and Hanuman. As the day moves on, in the evening, you can take a stroll around the lake Gregory. You may either explore the surrounding area with the help of bicycle or simply embark on a boat ride for a short while. Soon after the day’s tour, you will be staying at Nuwara Eliya in the night.
Post breakfast, we shall be leaving for Bentota. On our way, we shall be dropping by The Ravana Ella Water Falls and have fun for some time. As soon as we arrive at the hotel, we shall be roaming around the Bentota Beach and whiling away our time next to the beach. At the end of the day, we shall be staying at night in Bentota.
After eating an early morning breakfast, we shall be exploring Bentota a bit more before heading to Colombo. While we proceed to The Hikkaduwa Beach, with many bars and restaurants in the area, we shall spend some time at The Hikkaduwa park. Once you amble across the park, you will see many corals as well as fish of different species. Well, the best experience is only when you go for a glass bottom ride to check out the turtles and the corals. On our itinerary, we shall be going to The Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery, where you can take a quick look at the Care program aimed at enhancing the hatching rate of turtle eggs. As the day progresses, we shall be stopping by Balapitiya, a coastal town nestled in the southern province. It is at this place you can certainly enjoy The Maduganga River ride and swish past small islands. You can also capture the view along the river bank with mangrove forests and various animals. If you’re lucky, then you may observe many tropical birds and some crocodiles. After having your lunch, we shall move on to go to Colombo and further check into the hotel. After rejuvenating ourselves, the chauffeur will lead you with a city tour during the first half of the day. It’s during those hours, when you can get a chance to visit The Town Hall, Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte, Sri Lanka’s heroes’ Complex Kotte, the Folk Art Centre at Battaramulla, and the Bandaranaike Memorial International Center. Later, we shall be visiting the Beira Lake and The Buddhist Temple, Seema Malaka. Once you move around the temple, you will certainly feel peaceful and calm. With the entry pass, you also can visit Gangaramaya which is yet another Buddhist Temple. Here you shall experience a different ambiance as it’s one of the holy places in Sri Lanka. Later, if you’re fond of shopping, then you can visit the supermarkets and famous shops, Paradise & Barefoot Road. While Paradise Road showcases many things for home decor, Barefoot has a gallery, cafe and store. Towards the end, we shall be walking down the Marine Drive and having our meal at one of the famous restaurants. Once we return back, we shall be staying in Colombo itself.
As soon as we have our breakfast, we shall be going to the airport and depart with wonderful memories.
